An anonymous visitor (with IP 165.21.154.15) posted the question: "r u guys out there FOR or AGAINST Domino." Since he didn't have the guts to leave his email I removed the post. However I will answer the question.
While high profile people like Joseph Stalin and George W. Bush embark on this type of rhetoric, we don't subscribe to it. We have realized, that there are other problems than nails out there, so we need more than a hammer.
For my part: I'm doing Notes and Domino since R2.1 and implemented small and huge systems. I consider myself an expert. AND I'm interested in other technologies, so I speak Java, XML, VB.NET, COBOL and the like. I'm amazed by Open Source and cherish the determination that Microsoft's developers and product managers put into their work (I'm not talking about their corporate conduct).
I like IBM's iSeries and Sun's servers. Linux is as important to Windows as Windows to Linux.
The few things I'm really against: stupidity, ignorance, intolerance and a lack of laughter (in short everything that increases suffering).
So: You might have second thoughts.

gravatar.com - global recognized avatarIf you allow postings without an E-Mail address why do you remove them if you do not like them?
The iSeries is evil and Stalin is not comparable to Bush. Stalin was an intelligent man doing the wrong things as the latter is just a dumb-axx doing what other people tell him (even for speeches).
I agree with you at least for the SUN server thing. And no, this is not an Expert Opinion as your category says.

gravatar.com - global recognized avatarHi Heini,
thx for the comments. I don't mind if one doesn't leave an email if there is a link to the blog or website (so the business rule is 1..n). And I removed the post... For the GWB part: I don't think he is dumb. To get into that position you need to be damn smart. However being smart seems not to protect one from a rotten value system. On the iSeries: Doing Domino on iSeries might be questionable (even if it still leads notesbench.org lonely with 100000 concurrent mail users on ONE box). However it is robust like a concrete foundation, has a good database de facto on the OS level and at the same time a living history lesson on programming: ever feel bad about a Java program? Have a look at some of the RPG code --- makes you feel better instantly. AND I said I like it, I didn't say that it is a machine without challenges .
